Rolls Royce Enthusiasts’ Club East Midlands Section

Visit Russell Taroni’s home, Haselour Hall & Tom Telfer Award.

Sun 19th June 2022

Our Section members, Sue & Russell Taroni have kindly invited us to picnic in the grounds of their home at Harleston.  Most of the building (except the modern west wing built after 1885) is unmistakably Tudor, but the Manor dates back to Norman times.  The chimneypiece in the great hall is a splendid example of oak carving, which depicts the battle of Hastings. The family chapel is from around the 13th century.  Russell has several RR cars, together with BMC minis!

We shall hold the Tom Telfor award here in the afternoon.  This is for the best maintained post 1965 car (subsequent to Silver Cloud III). All members with an appropriate car can submit it for this award, except the winners of the prize in 2017, 2018 or 2019. The cars will be judged by one of our Section members, with a special knowledge of these cars.

We should arrive between 10.45 & 12.00 with our picnics. The cost is £6 per person and the closing date is 5th June.  Directions:- From Derby, or points north, take the A38 south and then take the A513 exit west  towards Tamworth / Rugeley. After about 3 miles the road turns sharp right.  Just after this point turn left into the side road. After 0.5 miles turn left again at the T junction.  After another 0.4 miles the entrance to the hall will be on your left.  This will be the second entrance after the T junction. The house is near Harleston village and the address and post code is Haselour Hall, Haselour Lane, Harleston Nr Tamworth B79 9JT. From Birmingham, again take the A513 towards Tamworth and follow the above instructions. From the East & Leicester come off the M42 at junction 11 onto the B5493 to Tamworth Take the second right to Clifton Campville and Haunton and Harleston.
