causing obvious distress for Michael and his wife June (June was driving the car). The large car transporter left the disabled car in  the car park, with little hope of movement, in the near future.

Fortunately, as far as I know, it was a happy ending due to our Martin Carnell and John Chapman of the Yorkshire section kindly donating their time and expertise to effect a repair to, so “all’s well” as they say!

The pre dinner drinks for the final evening was a rather noisy affair, with people

comparing lots of fantastic fancy dress costumes.

Following the five course dinner, Jeff had the unenviable task of picking the best fancy dress and other prizes.

Six fancy dress prizes were awarded, in no particular order…

          Mary Mulholand,                                     Ring Master

Rodney and Lucy Siebert                         Lion and Tamer

          Angela Siebert                                         Bearded Lady

          Edwin and Linda Tipper                           Clowns.

          Sharon Carnell                                         Fortune Teller

          Derek and Evelyne Randall                      Harlequins

Other prizes were awarded to…….

Mike Wild                                                     Hotel Staff favourite car.

Sandro and Fabizia Bonomi                          Travelled furthest (Italy)

Now onto the Grand Finale, what a show.

Bernie Clifton, with videos, stories, jokes and songs and our very own Jeff, in Bernie Cliftons costume of ostrich, with no rehearsal and appearing one night only.

I am sure, everyone would agree, a fantastic break, well done and thank you Jeff and June.

Spring Surprise at Sprowston Manor 2nd June to 5th June 2019

I didn’t think he could do it again, but he has. Jeff and June’s Spring Break at Sprowston Manor Norwich, was absolutely amazing. There were around 39 cars attending.

Glenis and I arrived on the Sunday in warm sunshine and were welcomed with tea and cakes. Whilst chatting to other members and guests, we saw a “failure to proceed” arrive, (perhaps not the best wording, as the problem was total brake failure!) but more of that later. It was now time to change for pre dinner drinks and three course meal, followed by fine entertainment from Carl Sinclair, piano and vocals, with a drummer for backing. They managed to get most of us up and dancing, with music and songs to suit everyone. It was a very enjoyable evening. I rose early the next morning for a swim and sauna in the excellent spa facilities, before a hearty breakfast. Glenis and I then made our way to the dedicated parking area at Aylsham, to board the Bure Valley Narrow Gauge Railway to Wroxham. We then had a short walk to board the pleasure boat for a leisurely trip along the river Bure and around Wroxham Broad. The captain gave us outstanding commentary and detailed explanation of the various wildlife spotted during the trip. Then it was to the Wroxham Hotel for an excellent buffet lunch.

We arrived back at our hotel with enough time to dress for pre dinner drinks, a three course meal and more fine entertainment. This time it was Judith Hibbert who had, what I would call, a unique, entertaining, and very funny act.

On the Tuesday, again following a swim and breakfast, (I will start my diet next week!) we had a leisurely drive to Thursford Steam Museum. This included an exclusive tour behind the scenes at the amazing costumes, dressing rooms, laundry, Christmas grotto and all the other things that make this the multi million pound show that it is. Taking a look around the large collection of steam engines and beautiful, old fairground organs brought us to the time for a steady drive back for the main event, but before that, let me explain the “failure to proceed”.

The Silver Shadow belonging to Michael Wright, suffered a total brake failure,
